The DOU RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environments, treatment and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities:Perform initial physiological and psychosocial needs assessment on all patients within 30 minutes of admissions and shift assessment. Identifies problems specific to biophysical, cognitive, developmental, emotional, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs. Demonstrates accountability for on-going awareness of the status of assigned patients. Collects and documents data appropriate to the nature and severity of the condition.
Qualifications:Current California RN License. Current Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider) and ACLS certification. Completion of Critical Care Course and Dysrhythmia Course if less than 2 years critical care experience. 1 to 2 years DOU/intermediate level/critical care nursing experience preferred. Current NIHSS certification, or within 90 days of employment.
